C.J. Spiller To Visit Saints Thursday

Adam Schefter knows a guy. Because of course he does.

John E. Sokolowski-USA TODAY Sports

Adam Schefter, newshound supreme, has got a league source telling him that FA RB C.J. Spiller, late of the Buffalo Bills, will be visiting with the New Orleans Saints on Thursday.

Then Hold'em from the nola.com got in on it, too, adding some more context to the possibility of the Spiller signing.

The team is in need of a No. 3 option and may try to do so with one of the better choices on the market.

The Saints will host Bills free-agent running back C.J. Spiller, according to ESPN. NFL Network reported earlier Wednesday that New Orleans was "in the mix" for the tailback. Spiller would be an ideal fit to replace Pierre Thomas, who the Saints released last week.

This intrigues me, as it could work out great for him to be a versatile, multi-trick pony for Payton to utilize. And even though he hasn't returned a punt since 2011 and took back only 16 kickoffs in the last two years, I'm going to imagine him as a dazzling kick returner, too! At least until Greg McMahon's @Midas Touch@ kicks in and reality crashes over me in September. (Thanks for the fact-check, arcuate!)

Let's do this, Loomis!!
