New Orleans Saints Sign Running Back C.J. Spiller

New, comments

Sean Payton now has his prototypical scatback.

Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports

The New Orleans Saints have officially signed running back C.J. Spiller, formerly of the Buffalo Bills. Adam Schefter, of course, breaks the news...

No surprises here. Spiller was in town for a visit yesterday and fits the mold for the type of back that Sean Payton always likes to have. Spiller is fast and very effective as a pass catcher out of the backfield, just as Reggie Bush, Pierre Thomas, and Darren Sproles all were.

Here are his career stats:

Also, in case you missed it, the Saints just traded Kenny Stills to the Dolphins for linebacker Dannell Ellerbe and a 3rd round draft pick.
