NFL Mock Draft 2015: Carolina Panthers Select Brandon Scherff

With the 25th pick in the 2015 NFL Draft, the Carolina Panthers (represented by Jake White) select...

Brian Spurlock-USA TODAY Sports

Brandon Scherff, OT, Iowa

Waiting for the Panthers to be on the clock I noticed one player that was perfect for the Panthers that was dropping.  I don't know why or how he fell this far but it happened. Brandon Scherff offensive tackle from Iowa stands at 6'5" and 319 pounds and is whom I have the Panthers taking.

The biggest need for the Carolina Panthers is offensive line and they somehow just got the best offensive linemen in the draft at pick number twenty five. He won the Outland Trophy and was first-team All Big Ten last year.  He is a very powerful man and a great blocker.  Could possibly play offensive guard instead of tackle but either way he makes an immediate impact on the Panthers offensive line.  He has pretty good hand placement and is a better run blocker than pass, but still one of the best pass blockers in this year's draft.  He is surprisingly quick for his size and has very good football instincts.  I really think he will be the first offensive lineman taken in this year's draft, most likely in the top 10.

Had he been picked before twenty-five I probably would have went Jaelen Strong (WR) out of Arizona St or Kevin Johnson (Cornerback) out of Wake Forest.  Both are needs of the Panthers, but they can easily get good players at those positions in rounds two and three since both the positions are so deep in this years draft class.  With that being said there was no way I was going to pass on Scherff.
