The New Orleans Saints have signed UDFA R.J. Harris. The Saints were criticized by some for not addressing the WR position in the draft, and have responded by bringing in Harris, who played WR in New Hampshire.
According to his scouting profile, Harris (6'0", 191 lbs) clocked a 40 time of 4.52 (with an unofficial 4.42 time also on record) with a 37.5" vertical leap.
Harris played in 14 games as a senior, catching 100 passes for 1551 yards and 15 TDs. His four year totals are 310 catches for 4328 yards and 36 TDs. (Here is a video highlight of his senior year)
He proved useful in the running game, as well, compiling 44 career rushes for 401 yards (9.1 ypc) and 4TDs.
Harris also was the team's punt returner as a freshman, taking 13 punts for an average of 16.3 yards.
Harris was projected as a "priority free agent" going into the 2015 draft.
This is just one domino to fall in the Saints' early UDFA process. Do you approve of the pick up? Does R.J. Harris have what it takes to be the next UDFA to make the final roster?
