Saints News, 5/7/15: Hungry NFL Media Feasts on Latest Savory Scandal

As expected, it's all anyone is writing, talking, or prognosticating about. I'm just glad the Saints aren't involved this time. Roger Goodell is now on the clock and the pressure is on. Unlike the Saints in 2012, the Patriots and their fans are lucky that the NFL isn't currently facing litigation related to their issue. They'll probably get off light.

Dennis Allen on return to New Orleans Saints, working with Rob Ryan - New Orleans Saints Blog - ESPN
Many sources I’ve talked to about the Allen hire suggested he will have a "calming influence" on the defense and may help bring more structure -- whether during the work week, in Ryan’s expansive game plans or both. I don't believe Allen has been working with any specific position group yet, though his exact role has not been detailed.

Report confirms NFL had chance to avoid #DeflateGate | ProFootballTalk
The Ted Wells report insists, at footnote 25 on page 46, that the NFL did not launch a "sting" operation against the Patriots.  But that's not the impression the body of the report creates.

NFL initially gave Patriots bad information about PSI readings | ProFootballTalk
To no surprise, the 274-page report generated by Ted Wells contains plenty of information. And that information includes some bad information that initially was given to the Patriots. At page 100 of the report, Wells explains that the January 19 letter from NFL senior V.P.

So many stories surfaced during the Deflategate media feeding frenzy that it's hard to remember them all. Tom Brady’s agent blasts the Wells report | ProFootballTalk
The agent for Patriots quarterback Tom Brady is coming out swinging in response to the Ted Wells Deflategate report, claiming that the league set up the Patriots and that a skewed investigation was designed to smear Brady.

Brady, not his agent, needs to be doing the talking | ProFootballTalk
The statement issued by Don Yee, the agent for Patriots quarterback Tom Brady, makes several very good points -- specifically regarding the non-sting sting operation. Ultimately, however, it's not Don Yee who should be talking. It's his client.
