Per Ian Rapoport, the New Orleans Saints have extended Cam Jordan's (coming off of a 7.5 sack season) contract by 5 years. Over the five years, Cam will make an extra $55 million, with $33.8 million of it guaranteed (behind only JJ Watt and Robert Quinn in guaranteed money).

Jordan is coming off of his best two seasons, sack wise, with 12.5 in 2013 and adding 7.5 more this past season. Despite the slight drop off in production last season, the organization clearly has seen enough from Jordan to make him a staple of the defense for some time to come.

Jordan does seem to be a good fit in Rob Ryan's 3-4, sometimes 4-3 hybrid D, and this team has put an emphasis on becoming more reliable on D. Jordan has shown glimpses of greatness, but hasn't put it all together, consistently... which is why all the guaranteed money might be a little concerning. Still, in Payloo we trust... because what other choice do we have?
