49ers to Cut DE Aldon Smith. Should the Saints Go After the Troubled Star?

According to reports, the San Francisco 49ers are about to cut their troubled linebacker/defensive end Aldon Smith, after he had another DUI incident last night. After the Junior Galette nightmare would it be foolish for the Saints to kick the tires on Smith?

What if that red jersey on Aldon Smith became a black one?

After he was arrested once again for driving under the influence, the San Francisco 49ers are apparently parting ways with Aldon Smith, their troubled, yet talented pass rusher.

After they released Junior Galette for being a troublemaker in their locker room, it would sound crazy to think that the Saints would even consider signing Smith. But, um, the Redskins signed Galette something like 10 seconds after the Saints cut him.

Smith is way more talented than Galette, and I would not be shocked at all if a number of teams are already on the phone with Smith's agent. It is likely that Aldon Smith will be suspended for a number of games, but what team wouldn't want to have him on their roster for a late season playoff push once he has served his punishment?

What say you? Should the Saints even remotely consider signing Aldon Smith or do I need to get my head examined to even suggest they could?
