Don’t tell the New Orleans Saints defensive players that their job is safe, as Tuesday brought a lot of edge rushers in for team tryouts. Per The Advocate’s Nick Underhill and NFL Insider Rand Getlin, the whole list looks like this:
Defensive ends: Wes Horton, Royce LaFrance, Greg Townsend, Bjoern Werner
Linebackers: Derek Akunne, Danny Lansanah, John Lotulelei, Dezman Moses, Shaquille Riddick, Andy Mulumba
Source: Saints worked out former Colts first round pick DE Bjoern Werner. Jets worked out former Raiders FB Marcel Reece.

Notable name
DE Bjoern Werner
Arguably, Werner would be the most interesting name to workout for the Saints, as he was the Indianapolis Colts’ 24th overall pick in the 2013 NFL draft. He was a true first-round bust with the team and was released during the offseason. Werner latched on with the Jacksonville Jaguars for a nearly three-month stint with the team before being cut in the preseason.
The Saints pass rush has 7.0 sacks through the first quarter of their season, which is on pace to be subpar to last year’s 31.0. They could definitely use a boost there, and it looks like they’re putting feelers out to see if anyone could help improve their situation.
