The NFL handed out a fine of $18,231 for Carolina Panthers defensive end Kawann Short for his questionable hit on New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees.
During post game locker interviews, Short addressed the hit on Brees. ““I put a move on the offensive lineman and was right next to him and put my hand up near his face. But he’s a shorter quarterback and I just happened to hit him (Drew Brees) in his face. It wasn’t on purpose and it wasn’t out of frustration or anything like that. I was just doing my job.”
The video and Drew Brees tells us a different story, however.

“It wasn’t that hard, but it just looked like he straight punched me in the mouth. That’s what it felt like and that’s what it looked like on the JumboTron, but I’ll take the 15 yards every time, and we got the touchdown anyways, so we are all good,” Brees said following the team’s victory.
