Ex-New Orleans Saints free agency bust C.J. Spiller is on the unemployment line again, as the Seahawks have released the veteran running back. The news broke on Wednesday afternoon, per ESPN’s Field Yates.

Spiller, like tight end Jimmy Graham, was likely licking his chops for an opportunity to prove what a mistake it was for the Saints to dump him. However, it doesn’t look like he’ll get that chance anytime soon.
After being released by the Saints on Sept. 13, Spiller would have several tryouts with the New York Jets, Green Bay Packers, and the Seattle Seahawks. He’d ultimately sign with them on Sept. 28 and play in two games for the team. He was a healthy inactive for the team’s Week 7 meeting against the Arizona Cardinals.
According to reports, the team is going with a younger and healthy C.J. Prosise as their third down running back.
Spiller will likely draw some interest from several running back-needy clubs as injuries pile up, but his days are clearly getting numbered.
