From some bad news to good news on this Thursday, as New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees has won Week 9’s FedEx Air Player of the Week for his performance against the San Francisco 49ers. He beat out Atlanta’s Matt Ryan and New York’s Eli Manning.
Brees completed nearly 72 percent of his passes (28-of-39) for 323 yards and 3 touchdowns en route to a 122.1 passer rating. This is the second time this season that Brees has won the award, and he’s been nominated more than a few times. The Saints MVP is currently 2nd in the NFL in passing yards (2,689), 2nd in touchdown passes (21), 3rd in passer rating (106.7), and is 1st in completions (242).
FedEx will make a $2,000 donation to the USO, a military support organization, in his name. Brees is a four-time winner of the Air Player of the Year, winning the title in 2006, 2008, 2009, and 2011.
