Tecmo Super Bowl technology seemingly gets the Saints extra point block right

Here’s a mildly comical way of looking at the controversial call that ended up handing the Saints their 5th loss of the season.

NFL: Denver Broncos at New Orleans Saints Chuck Cook-USA TODAY Sports

There’s little to no doubt that New Orleans Saints fans are still heated following the ending of Sunday’s game to the Denver Broncos. The good news is that a lot of support is in the corner of the black and gold, and this video by Kyle McCormick may get a little chuckle out of you.

McCormick specializes in recreating weekly highlights of Seattle Seahawks games through Tecmo Super Bowl 8-bit awesomeness. He syncs up the audio from the broadcast with the biggest moments and scoring plays.

You be the final judge on the blocked extra point that was returned for a 2-point conversion. I think it’s clear that a lot of other NFL fanbases saw it the way this YouTube video lays it out.

The NFL took their stance on the call, and various angles show that it was really a close call to make. Some fans went as far as to completely photoshop images of the foot being out of bounds. I wonder if sideline cameras will be a topic during the annual competition committee meeting during the offseason. Of course, that might slow down things to an already long and drawn out affair.
