If you're a daily fantasy player, I look at four players from the New Orleans Saints and their opponent’s rosters that I would target in daily fantasy (based off their value and potential results). Obviously, Saints QB Drew Brees is a safe QB for daily fantasy leagues, but spending your money on a top-tier starting QB leaves you scraping the barrel to fill out the rest of your roster.
So here are one Saint and three Lions that provide the most bang for your buck. (Values from Fanduel.)
TE Eric Ebron (DET) - $5,700
Ebron comes $1,800 cheaper than Jordan Reed, who has surprisingly surpassed Patriots TE Rob Gronkowski as the most expensive TE available. The Saints pass defense is still in the bottom of the league, and I expect a lot of Lions to have a good day, even in a loss.
WR Golden Tate (DET) - $5,900
Sticking with the Lions passing game, Golden Tate has now become the #1 WR in Detroit (after an early-season surge by Marvin Jones). Tate comes a whopping $3,100 cheaper than Antonio Brown so there’s great value here.
QB Matthew Stafford (DET) - $8,300
And the trifecta of Lions is complete. You can see I’m tripling-down on the Lions passing game, but Matthew Stafford is a good daily fantasy option regardless of defense on the other side. After a blowout against the Rams, most Saints offensive players are incredibly overpriced, and that including Drew Brees, the most expensive QB, $1,000 more expensive than Stafford.
WR Brandin Cooks (NO) - $6,800
Brandin Cooks is the one Saints offensive player who didn’t have a big game last week (in fact, he had an absolute dud), and that is reflective in his daily fantasy value this week. Cooks actually comes $100 cheaper than teammate Michael Thomas, and I expect Drew to look Brandin’s way multiple times this game to make up for last week.
My full daily fantasy lineup this week:
QB Matthew Stafford (DET) $8,300
RB Jordan Howard (CHI) $7,400
RB Devonta Freeman (ATL) $7,400
WR Brandin Cooks (NO) $6,800
WR Golden Tate (DET) $5,900
WR Antonio Brown (PIT) $9,000
TE Eric Ebron (DET) - $5,700
K Caleb Sturgis (PHI) $4,500
DST Broncos (vs Jaguars) $5,000
