As you’d imagine, New Orleans Saints running back Mark Ingram and quarterback Drew Brees are up for weekly NFL awards from their stellar performances against the San Francisco 49ers in Week 9. The NFL announced that both players are up for FedEx’s Air and Ground Player of the Week.
Ingram finished Sunday with 158 yards on 15 carries and a score, which included his big 75-yard run. He split time in the backfield with Tim Hightower after being benched for his fumble issues in consecutive weeks. However, Ingram ran like a madman when called upon and was awarded a game ball by the team.
Brees continued his exceptional play this season by completing nearly 72 percent of his passes (28-of-39) for 323 yards and 3 touchdowns en route to a 122.1 passer rating. It’s hard to believe that Brees struggled so early in the game, but as the cliché goes it’s not how you start, it’s how you finish.
You can vote for Brees up until Thursday at 2 p.m. CT by visiting NFL.com/FedEx or by tweeting the hashtag #AirandGround and Brees to cast their vote. You can also for Ingram using the same link, and through social media using the hashtag #AirandGround and Ingram.
FedEx and the NFL will announce the winners every Thursday afternoon, and then FedEx will award a $2,000 donation in the winning players’ names to The USO.
