Where Does Jahri Evans Rank Among New Orleans Saints All-Time Greats?

The New Orleans Saints have terminated the contract of Offensive Guard Jahri Evans. Evans should be considered an all-time great New Orleans Saints player, but does he make the Top 5?

Thank-you for a great career.

Jahri Evans was approached to take a pay cut to stay in New Orleans for the second year in a row. This time, he declined. While Jahri looks for a job with another NFL team, let's discuss where he ranks as an all time great of the New Orleans Saints.

Evans is a 6 time Pro Bowler, 4 time first team All Pro, one time second team All Pro, and a member of the 2009 Super Bowl Champion New Orleans Saints. Jahri opened up holes for the running game, protected the pocket for Drew Brees, and could quickly get up the field to make blocks on a Sean Payton patented screen play. If you'd like to reminisce, take a look at Jahri laying down a block for Pierre Thomas's touchdown-scoring screen in Super Bowl XLIV. There is a realistic possibility we see plays like this in a highlight reel for his induction in Canton.

But was his career enough to make Jahri Evans an All-Time Great New Orleans Saints player? Would he make your list of Top 5? How does he compare to Drew Brees? Archie Manning? Deuce McAllister? Rickey Jackson? Willie Roaf? Marques Colston? Joe Horn? Morten Andersen? Sam Mills? Pat Swilling?

Personally, I think Jahri belongs in the discussion for Top 5 New Orleans Saints Player of All Time. Here's my list:

  1. QB Drew Brees
  2. LB Rickey Jackson
  3. OT Willie Roaf
  4. QB Archie Manning
  5. OG Jahri Evans
Deuce McAllister is an honorable mention at #6 for me. What do you think? Where does Jahri fit in YOUR list of Top 5 New Orleans Saints players? Post your list in the comments. Hate my list? Tell me why. Send me presents.
