Welcome to the Bargain Bin.
With little cap space to begin the 2016 NFL Free Agency period, and then the multi-year contract to new Tight End Coby Fleener, the New Orleans do not have much money to throw around on remaining free agents. Enter 34 year old Jason Hatcher, released earlier this month by the Washington Redskins.
Hatcher is still a quality NFL player who showed in the 2015 NFL regular season he has plenty left in the tank and can thrive when used properly. As a pass-rush specialist in nickel and dime packages, Hatcher can bring a veteran presence to what was one of the worst pass-rush groups in 2015.
In 2015 with the Washington Redskins, Hatcher recorded two sacks, one forced fumble, and one pass defense while playing in 15 games, starting 14 of them. He is also only two years removed from an 11-sack season as a member of the Dallas Cowboys in 2013.
