Free Agency Watch: New Orleans Saints Sign Linebacker Nathan Stupar

New, comments

Don't get too excited.

Ed Mulholland-USA TODAY Sports

Former Atlanta Falcons Linebacker Nathan Stupar has Tweeted he signed with the New Orleans Saints today.

Before you get too excited about this move, understand Stupar, while a veteran Linebacker, is more of a special teamer and depth move than a starting position player. However, in 2015 with the Falcons, Stupar recorded 40 total tackles, one fumble recovery for a touchdown, and two pass defenses.

The former Penn State standout was a seventh round pick in the 2012 NFL Draft, having played five different NFL teams in as many seasons (Raiders, Eagles, 49ers, Jaguars, and then Falcons).

Contract details have not been announced, but don't expect this move to break the piggy bank. With the Saints limited cap space, Bargain Bin shopping is going to continue unless or until an eventual Drew Brees restructure occurs.
