SB Nation Mock Draft: New Orleans Saints Select Alabama's Jarran Reed

New, comments

Alabama's Defensive Tackle Jarran Reed to the New Orleans Saints.

The 2016 NFL Draft is getting closer and closer, and now SB Nation has released their own mock draft. With the 12th overall selection in the 2016 NFL Draft, SB Nation predicts the New Orleans Saints to select Alabama Defensive Tackle Jarran Reed.

The fit of Reed with New Orleans is perfect. Next to nose tackle John Jenkins, Reed would help bolster the Saints' poor run defense. Having Reed up front would help a underrated linebacker group stay off blockers to attack the ball carrier.

Other notable picks in SB Nation's mock draft include back-to-back Alabama DTs going off the board: A'Shawn Robinson goes to the Chicago Bears, one spot ahead of the New Orleans Saints. Clemson's Defensive End Shaq Lawson went one spot before that to the New York Giants. Mel Kiper's consistent pick for the New Orleans Saints, Louisville's DT Sheldon Rankins, was still on the board for New Orleans and finally went to the Buffalo Bills at 19 overall. Standout Ole Miss Wide Receiver Laquon Treadwell was also still available for New Orleans and went to the Detroit Lions at 16 overall.

Do the Saints really value Reed over Rankins? Could the Saints stick to their guns and draft on defense if Treadwell is still available at 12?
