The New Orleans Saints have re-signed TE Michael Hoomanawanui, agreeing to a 3-year deal with the 5th year player. The deal locks Hoomanawanui up and keeps at least one of New Orleans’ tight ends from hitting the free agent market. TE’s Benjamin Watson and Josh Hill will hit the free agent pool this Wednesday is they can not agree to deals with their 2015 club.

Hoomanawanui hauled in 11 passes in 12 games, good for 76 yards and 3 touchdowns. He was also used as a multi-tool player, lining up as a fullback many times to help with the protection of QB Drew Brees.

The NFL Network is reporting that the Saints are also working to re-sign running back Tim Hightower after his 8-game run with the team last year. He rushed for 375 yards and 4 TD’s for the black and gold last season on 96 carries. It was his first NFL game action since the 2011 season.

New Orleans has until Wednesday to re-sign any potential free-agents to keep them from hitting the open market
