Will Smith was fatally shot last night around 11:30pm following a car accident in the Lower Garden District near the intersection of Sophie Wright Place and Felicity Street last night.
His Mercedes Benz SUV was rear-ended by a Hummer H2, which then caused Smith's vehicle to hit a Chevrolet Impala in front of them. Smith and the driver of the Hummer got into an argument when the driver of the Hummer produced a handgun and shot him multiple times. His wife, Racquel Smith, was also shot twice in the right leg and wounded.
Will Smith was drafted by the Saints 18th overall in 2004 and played his entire 10-year career in New Orleans. He started 120 games.
Smith was only 34 years old. Our thoughts are with the Smith family at this time.
