Former Saint Will Smith's Last Instagram Post a Heartbreak

A sad, sad time.

Will Smith and his wife, just like myself and my wife, were in New Orleans this week taking in the sights and sounds of the French Quarter Festival. The French Quarter Festival is a free-to-all music festival (not nearly to the same scale as something like JazzFest in New Orleans, but still very large) that takes up a good portion of the river-side of the French Quarter. Live music, food, and -of course- drinking and the "New Orleans atmosphere" are staples of the festival.

Just hours before his death in an apparent road rage incident in the City of New Orleans, Will Smith and his wife (who was also injured in the same altercation) were care-free and enjoying the French Quarter Festival by the Mississippi River.

My wife and I walked along the River at the same time as this photo, going from the French Market to Harrah's casino. We were at roughly this exact spot a mere half hour before this photo was taken.

It is crazy to think how suddenly lives can be over, and this makes us all stop and think about our own mortality. At least for Will Smith, we are able to see from his his last Instagram post, that he was able to be with the woman he loved, in the City he loved, happy, and completely unaware that this would be his last day with us.

You'll be missed, Will. Thank-you for everything you did for this organization and the City of New Orleans.
