NFL Mock Draft 2016: Minnesota Vikings Select Josh Doctson

With the 23rd pick in the 2016 NFL Draft, the Minnesota Vikings (represented by SxSnts9) select...

Brian Spurlock-USA TODAY Sports

Josh Doctson, WR, TCU

While I still need to see more from Teddy Bridgewater to be convinced he's a franchise quarterback there is one thing that is certain on that offense.  They need another playmaker to get pressure off of Adrian Peterson.  All Day won't last forever, even with a year off for one of the most ridiculous suspensions I can remember.  They need someone else defense's have to game plan around.  While Kyle Rudolph and Stefan Diggs are nice players, they won't strike fear into the hearts of defensive backs any time soon.  But building a young nucleus of Bridgewater, Diggs and a rookie wideout could pay HUGE dividends in the future.

Enter Josh Doctson.  While Treadwell is getting more of the attention right now I feel that Doctson has a brighter NFL future (Though this could be splitting hairs).  Doctson is an absolute beast when fighting for a ball in traffic.  He has no fear and can learn to become a complete receiver with the proper tutelage.  Though he may never be an all-pro I can see him developing along side Diggs to form a fearsome 1-2 combo for defensive coordinators to lose sleep over.   If that development happens sooner rather than later, then AP may be able to add NFL champion to his list of career accomplishments before all is said and done.
