New Orleans Saints Release Safety Vinnie Sunseri

So long, Vinnie. We hardly knew ya.

Derick E. Hingle-USA TODAY Sports

After being selected in the fifth round of the 2014 NFL Draft, the Saints have released Safety Vinnie Sunseri.

Sunseri, a product of the University of Alabama, has had an injury-plagued career both in college and as a pro. Sunseri tore his ACL his junior year at Alabama, and immediately entered the NFL draft class. Playing in nine games as a rookie (mostly as a special teamer), Sunseri then broke his arm, missing the rest of the season. He then injured his knee last preseason, missing all of last year.

The release of Sunseri produces this depressing tidbit:

With so much discussion about best and worst draft picks, the entire 2014 Draft Class is one the New Orleans Saints would love to do over.
