NFL Mock Draft 2016: Denver Broncos Select Jonathan Bullard

With the 31st pick in the 2016 NFL Draft, the Denver Broncos (represented by ThaiDai3) select...

Trevor Ruszkowski-USA TODAY Sports

Jonathan Bullard, DT, Florida

With the loss of Malik Jackson, Wade Phillips has a spot on the DL for an interior disruptor. With Jarran Reed, Billings, Reed and Kenny Clark on the board the Broncos opt for Bullard's disruption. With the other talent in the front 7 already in place the rookie will have a defined role early on to allow him to grow into the NFL. Wade doesn't care for measurable but simply puts his players in positions to succeed, with his attacking one gap 34 scheme. On Nickel downs he will feast inside on the single blocking schemes he will face with the pass rushers outside. With Sylvester Williams entrenched as the starter at NT the other big name DTs on the board don't offer the ready made interior rush now missing from the defense that the former Gator brings to the table.

Connor Cook was deemed to be a reach on the board,  and with enough flexibility in later rounds to address the OL coupled with Elway's confidence in already having a ring as GM, they maintained his position on staying true to BPA. The Broncos Super Bowl ring was based on its defense and they keep it a strength.
