ESPN's Todd McShay has released his final Mock Draft heading into the first round this evening. Nothing too exciting for the New Orleans Saints, as the Saints are once again pegged to select Louisville Defensive Tackle Sheldon Rankins.
I've mocked Rankins to the Saints quite a few times. They need to get stronger and quicker up front, and Rankins' versatile skill set would make an immediate impact in New Orleans.
Mark that up as another Mock labeling Rankins a future Saint. But two surprising names fell PAST the Saints pick at #12: UCLA Linebacker Myles Jack (who after concerns about future knee injuries fell to the Detroit Lions at #16) and Florida Gator Cornerback Vernon Hargreaves III (who went to the Oakland Raiders at #14). Clemson Defensive End Shaq Lawson went one pick before the Saints to the Chicago Bears, and Ole Miss Wide Receiver Laquon Treadwell went to the Cincinnati Bengals at #24.
Other notable selections were the Rams going with QB Jared Goff over Carson Wentz (who went to the Eagles, second overall). OT Laremy Tunsil (#6) actually came in below rising tackle prospect Ronnie Stanley (#3, to the Chargers). Ahead of Treadwell at #24, went fellow wide outs Josh Doctson of TCU (#8, to the Browns) and Baylor's Corey Coleman (to the Texans at #22).
