The New Orleans Saints have selected running back Daniel Lasco from California with the 237th overall pick in the seventh round of the 2016 NFL Draft. Since is the second year in a row the Saints have used their 7th round pick on a running back.
Lasco was projected to be a 4th or 5th round draft pick so he was probably the highest rated player on the Saints draft board when they were on the clock. That's the only reason I can think why the Saints would take a running back, which is far from a position of need.
If you're looking for something positive about this pick, he had the best broad jump (11'3") ever for a running back at Combine. So he's got that going for him, which is nice.
