Saints’ Hau'oli Kikaha Still Not Placed on Injured Reserve

New, comments

It’s been two weeks since we learned Kikaha had a torn ACL, but he’s still currently on the team’s active roster.

Earlier this month we learned that Saints linebacker and defensive end Hau’oli Kikaha suffered an ACL tear in his left knee, the third of his football career. After multiple diagnoses, the consensus opinion was that his 2016 season was over before it even started.

But a quick look at the Saints roster on their official website still has Kikaha listed as active, and not on injured reserve. Even Jamarca Sanford, who was placed on IR after news of Kikaha’s injury, is listed in the injured reserve section of the Saints official roster.

Which is curious. I would assume that means the team isn’t quite ready to end Kikaha’s season just yet; that they think there’s still the possibility he can contribute at some point this year. Perhaps he’ll be placed on IR with a designation to return, which would allow him to come back after the first half of the regular season? It’s something to keep our eye on.
