ESPN’s Josina Anderson caught up with ex-New Orleans Saints running back C.J. Spiller on Tuesday evening following his surprising release.
“I definitely didn’t see it coming. I was going about my regular Tuesday recovery day when everything happened,” Spiller told Anderson.
Cornerback Delvin Breaux put out a tweet around his shock that was quickly deleted, and no other Saints players have said anything on Twitter.

Spiller also said that he felt that he has a lot of football left in him, and that he’s confident he’ll get an another opportunity while waiting patiently. It’s certainly a mystery why the Saints chose to move on from their free agent splash that quickly turned into a dud in 2015.
Perhaps we’ll find out more as time progresses, but the fact is this is another huge front office failure by the Saints. Just think about what this team could have done with all of the dead money that has piled up.
Spiller added positive comments from his experience in New Orleans by saying, “This organization really believed in me during free agency. They gave me another opportunity when my contract was up in Buffalo. I have nothing but good relationships that I have built here. It’s a first class organization that gives the players everything they need to be successful. So, I definitely don’t have any hard feelings.”
