The New Orleans Saints announced on Thursday that a special program is set to hit your local Raycom stations starting on September 24. The partnership between the two has an hour long documentary entitled “The Saints Are Coming” that is centered around the reopening of the Mercedes-Benz Superdome on September 25, 2006.
The special will premiere on WVUE Fox 8, and will be shown on various Raycom television stations in the Gulf South region. Jim Henderson, who we all know as the voice of the Saints, will narrate the documentary that goes behind the scenes with the team’s evacuation from New Orleans prior to Hurricane Katrina and also the events during and after the historic storm.
Exclusive interviews in the documentary include the likes of: U2’s The Edge (Edge), Saints personnel including team President Dennis Lauscha, Executive Vice President/General Manager Mickey Loomis, Head Coach Sean Payton, QB Drew Brees, Special Teams stalwart Steve Gleason, Tackle Zach Strief, Saints Ring of Honor and NFL Legend Archie Manning, former Louisiana Governor Kathleen Blanco, New Orleans natives and musical legends Trombone Shorty and Irma Thomas, and acclaimed broadcaster Mike Tirico.
According to the press release, we will have never before seen photos and footage, including Edge and Bono second-lining through storm ravaged New Orleans streets, and an emotional Brees talking about the impact felt.
Needless to say, it’s a must-see for any Saints fan.
