According to The Times-Picayune’s Herbie Teope, the New Orleans Saints are waiving defensive tackle Ashaad Mabry. The Monday morning report was also confirmed by multiple sources.
#Saints released DT Ashaad Mabry this morning, according to a source.

Mabry, who turns 24 in November, went undrafted in 2015 out of the University of San Antonio-Texas. However, the Saints brought in him, and Mabry eventually landed on the team’s practice squad. Initially, Mabry made the team’s final 53-man roster after quietly putting in some good work, and could likely return to the practice squad.
While the Saints would have an open spot on the roster, it was believed that they could make a play for an offensive lineman. However, as Teope pointed out, the Saints have not had any rumored interest in free agent guard Geoff Schwartz.
Now, that doesn’t mean that something could change. However, it’s fairly safe to say that some moves will happen for the New Orleans Saints this week as they prepare for the Week 1 home opener against the Oakland Raiders.
