REPORT: Jahri Evans Expected to Re-Sign with New Orleans Saints

A familiar face makes a return trip to New Orleans.

Ron Schwane-USA TODAY Sports

According to a report at The New Orleans Advocate, the New Orleans Saints have brought a hanful of players in for a workout, including familiar name Jahri Evans.

Evans, a six-time Pro Bowl offensive linemen, was cut by the Saints this offseason. He failed to find a new team during most of the offseason, but eventually latched on with the Seattle Seahawks in the beginning of August. Evans then failed to make the Seahawks final 53-man roster, hence his trip to New Orleans looking for work.

It has been exhaustively reported that the Saints have had their share of struggles on the offensive line during the preseason, specifically at the Guard positions. However, in the Saints final preseason tout with the Baltimore Ravens, the starting offensive line seemed to hold up with Andrus Peat and Tim Lelito shifting around. It should be noted, though, that the Saints offensive line was starting against the Ravens second-string defensive unit.

Evans' career in New Orleans is beyond reproach. He is an all-time great New Orleans Saints player, but seemed to be well past the mere "in decline" phase in his 2015 season. It has yet to be announced whether or not the Saints and Evans have reached a new contract, but check back for updates if or when such is announced.

Multiple reports are out saying New Orleans Saints are expected to sign free agent G Jahri Evans.
