Atlanta Falcons, New Orleans Saints Connections

Mark Ingram and Julio Jones headline the player, coaching, and front office connections between the Saints and Falcons.

The New Orleans Saints (7-8) take on the Atlanta Falcons (10-5) at the Georgia Dome in Atlanta on Sunday. The regular season finale will be the 94th meeting of the series, where the Falcons currently have the advantage with 49 victories. That is a bit better than Saints, who currently have 45 wins against their rivals.

Their will be some familiar faces on each sideline, and today we take a look at which players, coaches, and front office members share connections with the opposing team.

Coaching/Front Office

  • New Orleans Defensive Line Coach Bill Johnson served in the same position for Atlanta from 2001-06.
  • Falcons Defensive Line Coach Bryan Cox finished his playing career with the Saints in 2002.
  • Falcons Director of College Scouting Steve Sabo served as a pro scout with the Saints from 1996-98.
  • Atlanta Defensive Assistant/Linebackers Doug Mallory served as defensive coordinator at LSU.
  • Atlanta Assistant Special Teams Coach Alex Sutulovich and Saints Offensive Coordinator Pete Carmichael served on the same staff at Louisiana Tech from 1997-99.
  • Atlanta Wide Receivers coach Terry Robiskie is a native of Edgard, who lettered four years at LSU and was inducted into the Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame in 2012.

Player Connections

  • Saints K Wil Lutz is a Newnan native who played at Georgia State.
  • Saints LB Stephone Anthony, Falcons DE Vic Beasley Jr. and DT Grady Jarrett were teammates at Clemson.
  • New Orleans DE Paul Kruger, LB Craig Robertson and Atlanta C Alex Mack were teammates in Cleveland.
