Michael Mauti is returning to the New Orleans Saints, according to his agent Mike McCartney. The Tuesday afternoon news was also confirmed by Mauti, who gave a simple ‘Who Dat’ on the report. No official move has been made, however.

The Saints lost Nate Stupar to a torn ACL on Sunday, which seemingly opened the door for another player to return who can contribute on special teams. As a former captain of the unit and a player who spent time with the Saints during training camp and the preseason, Mauti should fit right in with the team.
NFL insider Adam Caplan said that some 14 players worked out for the Saints recently, which included Mauti. Some other interesting names that were a part of these: Running backs Matt Asiata, Dexter McCluster, Shaun Draughn, Ka’Deem Carey, Khiry Robinson, wide receiver Paul Turner, and linebacker Bryan Braman.
Per the NFL Transaction Report, the Saints waived Adam Bighill and released Bryce Harris while promoting Daniel Lasco from the practice squad and signing Jerry Hughes. Stupar was officially placed on injured reserve.
