The New Orleans Saints have lost another player to injured reserve. Rookie linebacker Alex Anzalone (shoulder) is being placed on the list, according to Wednesday’s NFL Transaction report.
Anzalone just appeared in three snaps against the Miami Dolphins in Week 4, but was clearly injured while making a tackle. It appeared that it might be his wrist at first, but trainers were working on his shoulder.
Also on the transaction report, the team officially added four players: Gabe Martin, John Greco, John Hughes, and Zach Line. Also, former Saints on the move, as Obum Gwacham, formerly of the Arizona Cardinals practice squad, was signed by the New York Jets, and Ben Heeney was claimed by the Houston Texans.
Veteran offensive tackle Zach Strief was placed on injured reserve on Tuesday, and the new league rules do allow two players to return during the season. Delvin Breaux is likely the top candidate, but should Strief and Anzalone be ready later in the season, it’ll be interesting to see where the Saints go.
Craig Robertson should see more action alongside A.J. Klein in Anzalone’s absence.
