If you're a daily fantasy player, before each game I will look at three/four players from the New Orleans Saints and their opponent’s rosters that I would target in daily fantasy (based off their value and potential results). Obviously, Saints QB Drew Brees is a safe QB for daily fantasy leagues, but spending your money on a top-tier starting QB leaves you scraping the barrel to fill out the rest of your roster.
So here are three Saints and one Bear that provide the most bang for your buck. (Values from Fanduel.)
RB Alvin Kamara (NO) - $7,500
Alvin Kamara is the 7th highest-scoring RB in daily fantasy by average points per game, but is still $1,800 cheaper than the most expensive RB available. The Redskins present one of the best offenses the Saints have seen in weeks, and this game could actually end up being fairly high-scoring. If the Saints need to score, look for Kamara to continue his run this season.
RB Samaje Perine (WAS) - $5,400
This is purely a value play. Chris Thompson and Rob Kelley are both injured, with the latter set to miss a significant amount of time. The Redskins will now be asked to lean to rookie Samaje Perine to carry the bulk of the load between the tackles against New Orleans. As great as the Saints defense has been, they have still been susceptible to a big play in the run game, and at $3,900 cheaper than the most expensive RB available, he’s a solid lottery ticket to have at least one big play.
TE Vernon Davis (WAS) - $5,200
Here’s another value play in this game. Jordan Reed, the normal starting TE for Washington, continues to be hampered by injury. It has been the ageless Vernon Davis who has been asked to step up and shoulder some of that burden. At $3,200 cheaper than the most expensive TE available, even against the talented Saints defense, Davis is a strong daily fantasy play this week.
K Wil Lutz (NO) - $5,000
Lutz missed a FG attempt last week and is only $300 cheaper than the most expensive Kicker available in daily fantasy, but I’m rolling with Lutz for two reasons: 1) I stand by the idea that this game could end up with a decent combined score, and 2) Lutz is money from distance.
My full daily fantasy lineup this week:
QB Tom Brady (NE) - $8,600
RB Alvin Kamara (NO) - $7,500
