While many are likely still riding the high from Sunday’s victory over the Washington Redskins, it wasn’t all good for the New Orleans Saints. According to a Monday morning report by NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, free agent defensive end Alex Okafor’s season is over due to a torn Achilles.
This was the play that Okafor was injured on (the Jeremy Sprinkle touchdown).
This was the Alex Okafor injury, if you didn't see. Favored his lower right leg. No doctor of course, thoughts @ProFootballDoc? pic.twitter.com/Tzw9OmZcNN

Okafor was treated on the field, and was helped off with assistance. After a short stay on the trainer’s table, he took a cart to the locker room.
It’s a big blow for the Saints defensive line, as Okafor has been a solid presence in both run defense and pass rushing. Look for a committee approach for the defensive end presence opposite of Cameron Jordan, with Trey Hendrickson likely being the primary beneficiary. The Saints also have Hau’oli Kikaha and Al-Quadin Muhammad, but don’t be surprised if the team signs a free agent to help here.
