Per the NFL's Thursday Transaction Report, the New Orleans Saints have made two moves. The first involved sending defensive end Hau'oli Kikaha to injured reserve, and then claiming a familiar face in Kasim Edebali to take his place.
The Saints have lost a host of players on defense this season, and Kikaha is just the latest one to join John Hughes this week. Tony McDaniel was brought in to replace Hughes, and now Edebali gets claimed off waivers from the Los Angeles Rams to re-join the Saints.
Edebali was with the Saints from 2014-2016, going undrafted out of Boston College. He’d end up appearing in all 48 games during a three-year stay with New Orleans, but would not be retained heading into 2017. Edebali signed a one-year deal with the Denver Broncos, appearing on special teams mainly in his nine games.
Upon being waived in mid-November, the Detroit Lions would claim him, coincidentally waiving George Johnson in the process. He’d spent nearly a month with the team before being waived again, finding a new home with the Rams, but was cut on Wednesday.
