The NFL announced on Friday afternoon that New Orleans Saints running back Alvin Kamara won his fifth consecutive and sixth total Pepsi Rookie of the Week award for 2017.
In Week 13 against the Carolina Panthers, Kamara totaled 126 yards (60 rushing, 66 receiving) and 2 touchdowns en route to a 31-21 victory. Kamara beat out Packers running back Jamaal Wiliams, Bears running back Tarik Cohen, Giants tight end Evan Engram, and Chargers defensive back Desmond King. It was the eighth time this season a Saints rookie has won the weekly award, as Marshon Lattimore had the other two (Week 6 and Week 8).
Unfortunately, Kamara’s incredible streak will come to an end after exiting the game early against the Atlanta Falcons with a concussion. Still, it was quite an impressive run for the Saints rookie running back, and he’ll have an opportunity to rebound and shine against the Jets in Week 15.
