Around the NFL editor Gregg Rosenthal gave predictions on Tuesday afternoon for his idea of fun additions for teams and impending free agents. His suggestion for the New Orleans Saints? Defensive end Jason Pierre-Paul.
Rosenthal obviously poked fun at the organization for their past three lackluster 7-9 seasons, but referenced the fact that head coach Sean Payton has publicly claimed the need for the Saints to get a pass rusher. Of course, they’ll have money at their disposal, and can gain even more before the start of free agency.
New Orleans Saints: Jason Pierre-Paul, defensive end
Few teams take as many big swings in free agency as the Saints, and they usually miss. They have more cap space than they've had in years, and coach Sean Payton said adding a pass rusher is "a must" this offseason. With Jeff Fisher out of the league, Payton and GM Mickey Loomis are the new 7-9 kings. They should be feeling do-or-die pressure to deliver a winning season -- and that's a sure recipe to overspend like a bachelor party in New Orleans.
Of course, we’re approaching the two-week mark for free agency. Pierre-Paul is absolutely a priority for the Giants to keep, but there are tons of suitors that are ready, willing, and able to shell out the money to land his services.
