It was almost as if gasoline was used to start a tiny little fire when a report swirled last week of head coach Sean Payton having breakfast with Manziel during Super Bowl week, which quickly escalated into the Saints wanting to sign him. Everyone started drinking the Kool-Aid, including Skip Bayless.
Coincidentally enough, John DeShazier caught up with Payton on Tuesday to talk about Brandin Cooks, Malcolm Butler, and the Manziel hoopla. From the interview, Payton said he was curious to get to know him (Manziel), and that it was the first time he met him.
“It was just a chance for me to visit with him,” Payton told DeShazier.
The Saints have been linked to multiple quarterbacks in free agency and the draft, as the general belief has been to go get the Drew Brees replacement and another backup. While many wildly disagree, maybe we can officially close the book on a Manziel comeback to the Big Easy.
