Not that it was ever in doubt, but the Saints are going to have Willie Snead back in the mix for 2017.

According to NOLA.com’s Josh Katzenstein, the New Orleans Saints are planning to tender exclusive rights free agent Willie Snead before the NFL’s Thursday deadline. Per the report, the one-year salary is an estimated $615,000.

"We look forward to having additional conversations," said agent Jim Miller, who met with the Saints during the combine last week in Indianapolis. "They like Willie, and we like the Saints."

Obviously, it goes without saying that Snead is a very high priority for the Saints, especially with the Brandin Cooks trade rumors picking up steam. It was never a question of if the Saints were going to keep Willie Snead, it was more how. The tender gives the team an opportunity to negotiate a long-term deal with the 24-year-old Ball State product. In two seasons, Snead has played in 30 of 32 games for the Saints, totaling 1,895 receiving yards on 141 receptions with seven touchdown grabs.
