The New Orleans Saints have added offensive guard Larry Warford in what as been a great day for the team on the first day of NFL Free Agency. Warford fills an immediate need for the Saints on the inside of the line. The news was first reported by NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, and since confirmed by his agent.

With Andrus Peat looking like the mainstay at left guard, Warford started looking more and more like the best fit for at the guard position for the Saints as free agency neared. Warford has played almost exclusively at RG during his career, which is where he will play in New Orleans, opposite of Andrus Peat. For a more in-depth look at how well Warford fits in the Saints offense, check out my colleague John Sigler’s film study piece on him here.
Warford is as good as it gets for the Saints at RG. While Zeitler was the preferred option for some fans, I think most will be extremely happy a few games into the 2017 season. Warford should come at a slightly cheaper price tag and will be as productive as any guard in the need.
