The NFL and the New Orleans Saints have released their 2017 preseason schedules. Here’s how it shapes up for the black and gold, who travel the first two weeks.
- Week 1 (Aug. 10-14): at Cleveland Browns
- Week 2 (Aug. 17-21): at Los Angeles Chargers
- Week 3 (Aug. 24-27): vs. Houston Texans
- Week 4 (Aug. 31-Sep. 3): vs. Baltimore Ravens
Typically, the preseason games are subject to being broadcast on Raycom Media outlets for local fans. Official times are to be announced. The team’s 2017 offseason workout program kicks off on April 17, with OTAs set to start on May 23.
Last season, the Saints had a all-AFC approach to their preseason schedule by taking on the Patriots, Texans, Steelers, and Ravens. If you read into such things and believe in precursors, the Saints went winless (0-4) during that stretch. In fact, they haven’t won a preseason game in nearly three years (Aug. 23, 2014 against the Colts), riding a nine-game losing streak.
As much as people don’t want to read into the preseason, it would be nice to see the Saints get off on the right foot for a change, even if the games don’t really matter.
