With the 14th pick in the 2017 Canal Street Chronicles Community NFL Mock Draft, the Philadelphia Eagles select...

Christian McCaffrey, RB, Stanford (5-foot-11, 202-pounds)

Here’s what nolabbtb had to say on the pick:

Really there was only three ways I was going to go with this pick.

1. A WR, which really isn't a glaring need with Alshon and Torrey Smith getting fresh, new contracts in Philly. As much as I love the athletic freak that is Mike Williams, I didn't really see him fitting on the Eagles. I considered Corey Davis as well, but ultimately went with who I think is the most talented player available.

2. CB, which is a glaring need, the only CB i think that is worth a top 15 selection in this draft is Marshon Lattimore, who was taken way before #14. I'm not a big believer in Marlon Humphrey and I think it's gonna be at least 2-3 years before he has a chance at becoming a starting CB.

3. RB, which is now a need as Darren Sproles is aging fast and a versatile weapon is needed to pair with Wentz in the backfield.

McCaffrey is easily the second best RB in this class. His route running ability and hands make him look like a natural WR, but don't get it twisted, his running ability is amazing too. Posting one of the best 3-cone drills for a running back in combine history is just one measure of how agile he is.

His patience is Le'Veon Bell-esque and his underrated speed can make him an efficient runner inside or outside the numbers. After posting two straight amazing, Heisman-type seasons at Stanford along with a show-stopping combine and pro day, his stock has skyrocketed to him possibly being a top 10 pick. This guy is amazing with the ball in his hands and, while he may not be your ideal 3-down back, he can be the nightmare of defensive coordinator's for years to come. Tack that along to his fantastic kick and punt return skills, it's a no-brainer for Philly.
