What you missed this week with the New Orleans Saints

It was a relatively quiet news week for the Saints, but the good news is that we aren’t going to stay that way for much longer. Here’s some of the biggest stories for the week of April 9.

The NFL Draft is right around the corner, and many are anxious to see how the New Orleans Saints attack with their seven draft picks. While the news isn’t exactly flowing this time of the offseason, there’s still some noteworthy things you may have missed from the past week.

The Saints preseason schedule was announced on Monday (sort of). No definitive dates and times were released, but we at least know the timeframe and opponents. The Saints open at the Browns, travel to Sardine Stadium to take on the Chargers, then come home for the Texans and Ravens.

LSU’s Leonard Fournette graced the cover of Sports Illustrated, which is not a surprise. However, fans quickly noticed that his first pose was in a Saints jersey. There’s a good read here by Pete Thamel, even if you aren’t a Fournette fan.

The Advocate’s Nick Underhill and Joel Erickson took over the Saints war room for a second installment of their mock draft, which is always entertaining. Underhill also weighed in on Adrian Peterson and Reuben Foster. Per all reports, the Peterson visit went well, but no contract was given.

Speaking of Foster, Bleacher Report’s Matt Miller said recently that with the No. 11 pick, team would love to see Alabama's Reuben Foster on the board.

Tom Benson was pretty active this week, purchasing Cadillac of New Orleans and weighing in on the passing of Steelers owner Dan Rooney.

Lions president Rod Wood leaked the NFL schedule release, with an anticipated Thursday, April 20 date.

A lot of players attended Saints local pro day on Friday, including a lot of LSU players.

Lastly, Delvin Breaux and his wife Kasey welcomed their son into the world on Monday.
