After the New Orleans Saints used their 11th overall pick on Ohio State’s Marshon Lattimore, they used the last pick of Day 1 to get Wisconsin offensive tackle Ryan Ramczyk.
SB Nation’s Dan Kadar had Ramczyk rated 18th overall, and was his top offensive tackle prospect on his 100 player draft board.
The 49ers took linebacker Reuben Foster just ahead of the Saints pick in a trade with the Seahawks. Ramczyk will easily find himself as the reserve offensive tackle, which is a position of need, and can be inserted in jumbo packages for the offense.
BOTTOM LINE: Extremely confident tackle with the athleticism to stay on the left side and the technique to make an early impact as a starter. Ramczyk has the core strength and body control that should keep him connected to blocks in both the run and pass and he's proven to be scheme versatile with his playing style. Ramczyk is an early starter with the potential to become a good starting left tackle provided his medicals hold up.
