According to NFL Network’s Heath Evans, the New Orleans Saints are expected to meet with veteran free agent running back Adrian Peterson next week. Apparently, it’s not a late April Fool’s joke either.
This is quite a shocking development, as the team is in need of a backup to Mark Ingram after Tim Hightower signed with the San Francisco 49ers. Some figured the draft would be the best route to go, but the fact that Peterson would visit certainly raises an eyebrow on what actually could and would happen.
Peterson took to Instagram late last month to refute a report that he was looking at $8 million annually, which would seemingly put the Saints out of the discussion on the surface. He’s had recent visits with the Seattle Seahawks and New England Patriots, but left without a contract. According to a SiriusXM NFL report, Peterson has 3-5 teams interested in him and actually had not set a price.
