With the first pick in the 2017 Canal Street Chronicles Community NFL Mock Draft, the Cleveland Browns select:
Myles Garrett, DE, Texas A&M (6-foot-4, 272-pounds)
Here’s the take from CSC member Joey Dauphine:
Top Performer in his position in the 40 (4.64 SEC), bench press (33 REPS), vertical jump (41.0 INCHES) and broad jump (128.0 INCHES). The adjective to describe him: explosive.
This is as close to sure thing behind the sun rising tomorrow. When the Cavs won the championship and the Indians are in the World Series, it sent a message that the Browns better find a monumental way to reinvigorate the fans NOW! This is a start. This is a cornerstone. This is a reason coaches on the Browns will have a job next year. In effect, this is manna from heaven.
No need to be cute with this pick unless the brass of the Browns like their tires slashed. Repeat after me: No QB is worthy of this pick. NONE. And trading this pick? As we say in the Lower Nine, “Ain’t gone happen”. What is the true value of a cornerstone? Two No. 1s? Three??? Sure, the player said he would love to be n Dallas, but Dallas will not mortgage their future for him.
Meanwhile, Cleveland will not wait years to be significant again. When a player’s draft grade is almost one point high than the next highest graded player it, it is the equivalent to drafting LeBron James and anyone else in the draft he was in: He is so significant it made everyone else in the draft and next year’s INSIGNIFICANT.
And that is Myles Garrett, ladies and gentlemen. Cleveland Brown.

Thanks to all the CSC members who are participating in this year's community mock draft. Without your help, none of this would be possible!
