According to a Tuesday morning report by Pro Football Talk’s Mike Florio, the New Orleans Saints are expecting center Max Unger to be back during the preseason.
Here’s what Florio specifically said surrounding Unger:
Per a source with knowledge of the situation, the Saints currently expect that Unger will return during the preseason. This contradicts multiple reports that he won’t be available when the Saints head to Minnesota for a Week One game against the Vikings.
Monday morning’s report by NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport said that Unger suffered a foot injury and was expected to miss the start of the season, according to his source. NOLA.com’s Herbie Teope reported that Unger had surgery over the weekend to repair the same foot injury he dealt with last season that forced him out Week 14 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Of course, we’re talking about preseason starting in nearly three months when the Saints open at the Browns on Aug. 10, so it’d probably be more of a concern if Unger doesn’t return for the ‘dress rehearsal’ on Aug. 26 at home against the Texans.
