According to ESPN's Dianna Russini, the New Orleans Saints will be not have three of their biggest stars playing in Thursday's initial preseason game against the Cleveland Browns.
Per the report, quarterback Drew Brees and running backs Mark Ingram and Adrian Peterson will not play. Chase Daniel should start for the Saints, while backfield duties will likely default to a combination of Travaris Cadet, Daniel Lasco, and possibly rookie Alvin Kamara.
Needless to say, there’s plenty of players to still watch tonight as Sean Payton and company look to start carving out their 53-man roster. The first preseason game is typically basic formations and vanilla offense. Still, Saints football is back so to speak, and we'll be intrigued to see how the depth performs. The team is seeking their first preseason victory in nearly three years.
Kickoff is at 7:00 p.m. CT tonight, and you can check out how to follow all of the action here.
